Dem Candidate for 108th State House, Anne Weisberg, Concedes. Other Results. Sherman Shifts Blue

Anne Weisberg called her opponent, Pat Callahan, to congratulate him on his victory. No Democrat held that seat since 1980.

For the many months prior to that defeat, Anne worked tirelessly, knocking on thousands of doors and successfully earning funding from the State’s Citizen’s Election Fund.

The unofficial results gleaned from https://ctemspublic.tgstg.net are summarized below. “Jeff %” corresponds to Jeff Ginsburg’s run for the same position in 2022.

To put Anne’s loss in perspective, refer to the article in the CT Mirror, “Connecticut saw a shift toward the Republican party in 2024” on Nov 8, 2024 that describes the shift in every CT town from 2020.

Considering that New Fairfield, the largest town in the district, shifted red 7.26% from 2020, Anne’s loss was less than 1% lower there vs 2022 when Ginsburg ran. In 2020, Danette Onofrio garnered 41.2% in her bid for that seat. With the district shifting 7.26%, we’d expect Anne to garner that much less, but she got 3.4% less than Danette.

As reported in the newstimes article on Nov 7, 2024, Republican Senate Minority Leader Steve Harding declares victory over Justin Potter in 30th District. Justin earned 45.8% vs Harding’s 52.5%.

Jahana Hayes beat George Logan with 53.4% of the vote vs his 45.6%. Murphy won 56% vs Corey at 40%. Harris won 56.2% vs Trump at 42% of the CT votes.

Sherman Democrats should be pleased that Sherman is among the top five towns in CT to shift more Democratic from 2020.
